My initial plan for profits is below;
I commit to letting everyone know if this changes.

As a follower of Christ, my first profits will go to those who most need care in the world. God affirms twice before Chapter 10 in Genesis that we are to be our siblings' keepers, and I want to turn capitalism on its head as far as I can and still feed my family.
I'll do it by helping those most hurt by the world and by the church FIRST.

SisTers PGH

My makeup business/ministry lifts up the gifts and beauty of all people who are LGBTQIA+, and especially people who are trans. I'm part of a collective that has agreed to work together to raise funds for this group.

Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries

I'm a member of Proclaim as a bisexual Pastor, and this group is also lifting up the gifts of People of Color.

Young Clergy Women International

This group got me through my first call -- as me. They lift up the gifts of those who experience sexism daily, and taught me how lipstick and nail polish are part of God's creative work in the world.

You can read all about these projects on the rest of this website, as well as follow me on facebook
Also, you may request certification so that you can trust that my profits are going where I say they are going. Working on starting a mission church in Chicago right now, and our first goal is to send all the leaders to anti-racism training so we can join The Emmaus Project.

<![CDATA[MinUess or Busitry? Ministry and Business]]>Sun, 12 Aug 2018 00:34:46 GMThttp://pastorjess.com/when-jesus-wears-makeup/minuess-or-busitry-ministry-and-businessWhat?
     One of the things I'm working on in my life is breaking binaries. Let's be real, all ministry happens in this country in a business kind of way. There needs to be income to pay bills, pay for Pastors to live and eat, and to cover expenses. People give money to the ministry, and the ministries run fundraisers. Both people and ministries operate in a capitalistic world. When I needed a way to feed my family while doing ministry (there is an awesome event called Friday Night Backyard Bible Study happening right now), I figured I needed a flexible schedule, and something where I get to be in charge of my own life as much as possible to be as creative as possible. I am helping people feel beautiful and confident through Mary Kay.
     Think of the possibilities!. I'll learn to do makeup. I'll throw makeover parties for people who are trans to feel beautiful and fully made in the image of God. I'm also planning to offer to do makeup for people just before job interviews for no cost. Finally, for your wedding, I'll be able to do your makeup, do Reiki on you to calm your nerves, and then perform the ceremony.
     Another blog post will share the story about how God brought me this opportunity. There are so many thoughts in my head about how this is a ministry, but the most important one is that my money is going where my mouth is. Please read this post about the Ministry plan. Time to break down the barriers to creative ministry and the clear distinctions between business and ministry. Even the Apostle Paul was a tentmaker (see Acts 18:1-4) to fund his missionary activities. Now, if you want to support my work WITHOUT buying makeup from me, then you can do so here, and you can pay for several items to help your congregation or pastoral ministry in my store.
